Donna, that's quite a story - very scary, indeed. If you ever learn the details of what happened there, please let us know. All I can think of is some sort of botched insurance scam. (What's an unblazed Blazer worth?) Quite intriguing.

That's hilarious! Thanks for sharing. We're actually thinking of moving into the neighborhood. Would you recommend it for two young professionals with a toddler?

When I was in college I knew this wonderful, wonderful guy who one day recited this entire monologue to me one day in class. He did it as Bette Midler’s character Sophie. It was quite grand and I never forgot it. I’ve printed it out to put in a “pack” I’m sending to my niece for her birthday.
It is truly great!

I think I might have a baggy daisy dress in my closet but am drawing the line at the head shaving. I am thinking of carrying the plastic ties to cinch up drooping pants.

I've always wondered about those single shoes you see on the side of the road. Wouldn't you notice if you lost one shoe? Yesterday in the Border's parking lot, I saw a pair of brown lace panties. Maybe the blow up doll lost them?

While I do appreciate your points on the furniture, the question you raised, "What is the price of a memory" is what I think you may be missing. For Tony's family, I am guessing these items have become a means to help resolve some financial strain. While some of the items that were sold may be irreplaceable heirlooms, they are not truly memories - they are just objects that help inspire a memory.

Here is an example, every time I see a couple of the silk Christmas ornaments on mom and dad's tree, I think of many Christmas' past. Nothing will replace those memories. Those memories are you, they are me, they are who we are. In the end that silk ball will whither and fade, and eventually it may be thrown away; however, for the rest of my life I will always have the memories of you, me, our family - and that my dear sister, is priceless.

These ying yangs were all mandated to wear bicycle helmets and seat belts when they were young. We have become a society where legislation overprotects the ignorant. As a result, we pay for the idiots that would have been "Darwin'ed Out" a long time ago.

Now go get a tissue and weep for the future! ;)

This post reminded me of when I picked you up at the airport here. On the way out of the airport area, on the first main street we hit, a driver hit a curb pulling into traffic in front of us. He did a 'bobble head' thing, and we laughed. During that same visit, we saw what became one of my all time favorite bumper stickers: "Not tonight, I have a MODEM.” My point is, I think that you are some sort of roadway oddities dowsing rod.

Donna, I send my best wishes to you and your family on this. I know that this has caused you great dismay, and continues to do so, but I hope that you can get through these difficulties soon. It hope that you will all find that the memories are both priceless and indelible, no matter how the auction comes out. Best of luck with it.
